Female Drell Design by Khenmes Female Drell Design by Khenmes
So, yeah, these are two pages stuck together, I apologize for the obvious patch but these are just designs I did in a restaurant with a few friends (I have a bad habit of doing that).

Anyway, it's no secret how much I like the design of the Drell species. They all are so beautiful and I honestly think that it is the best design for an attractive male alien I've ever seen, but the question still remains as to what the women look like.

Well I haven't found too many designs for female Drell and when I do find them it is typically just the male design with some curves; think outside the box people!

So since Thane was based off of a snake and other misc. reptiles I thought about cobras and how feminine they seemed to be (in my opinion). Sadly I seem to be out of practice when it comes to the seductive female form (even sadder since I am a girl) but I am rather pleased as to how the design turned out considering I've never drawn it before.

These models have been raking my brain for so long that once I was among my fellow art students I just had to finally draw it. The design for the female Drells' tattoos are still pending and after drawing this picture I've come up with a few ways to make them look better. Lastly, for those who aren't in the loop about Drell, many fans have decided that these females do not have breasts. As an aspiring artist I rose to the challenge of making an attractive female without this trait; the chest still looks a little odd to me and will be something I'd have to work out in the future but I hope you all enjoy the picture and tell me what you think.

Drell belong to bioware (Mass Effect series) but these are my ideas for the females.

I love how elegant she looks, and how believable too. I think the neck fins are my favorite feature, aside from the wonderful designs along her skin. Truly aw-inspiring.

What I love about this picture is that it shows biological differences in appearance between Male and Female Drell. While male Drell's heads are more conservative and more of like a sleek straight down, female Drell have a more wild and pronounced quazi fins on their heads. Also, It appears as though the female Drell has more of that red, overlapping skin on it's neck than the male does.

Nicely done, the Drell are my favorite race in Mass Effect (and I thing maybe one of the hardest to draw, second maybe to Turians) and I really hope they show a female Drell like this in Mass Effect 3

Really pretty!
I love these female drells, you should do them again but this time in some stylish pose with cloths.
And ofc, don't forget to paint it :3

Also, I have a challenge for you. Most people dress them in leather like assasins, you should dress them in a dress or something. Something feminine.

Yah I could totally see why Drell females wouldn't have breasts. They're not mammalian at all and don't secrete milk therefore no need for mammaries. But They do have tear ducts like a crocodile. So maybe they're a mix of snake and croc? You know, it would have been totally awesome if they'd given Drell tails though.... But meh. I like tails.

Also, you can tell that Drell were more than likely herbivores. If you watch Thane talk closely you'll see that his teeth are squared and flat. Which is an evolutionary trait of herbivores, needing the flat teeth for crushing and grinding plants and vegetables.

Where as Turians... well they'd have to be carnivores of a kind because dude...have you SEEN the fangs on those suckers? Holy crap! But Turians remind me of Crickets... I dunno why but they do. I think it's the hand and legs/feet.

In the superb fan fiction called "Interstitium" by the one who calls himself "AssaultSloth."

Garrus is enthralled thinking of she who was his beloved when he was in the armed forces, the one with "flexibility."

"They let women in the turian army?" Ken asked. He stared pointedly away from Garrus, trying to act nonchalant, but even Garrus recognized the embarrassed blush on his cheeks.

"...Really?" he asked, dubious.

"Yes, really. Never seen a Her-ian. Curious."

"Well ... yes," Garrus said after a moment. "There was this one scout in my unit. Beautiful."

"What did she look like?"

"Narrow waist," Garrus said, letting his mind take him back. Ken nodded his approval. "Blue eyes and clan markings, like mine."

"Sexy," Ken said.

"Mandibles sharp enough to cut glass," Garrus said, picturing said mandibles vividly. He hadn't thought about her in years – she really had been a gorgeous creature.

"Err ... okay," Ken said, a little hesitant. "Love a girl with sexy mandibles." They stared at each other for a moment before bursting into laughter. Garrus shook his head in disbelief. Was he actually enjoying Ken's company? Damn Shepard and his manipulations. He took another sip of his water – it was delicious.

Ken clapped him roughly on one armored shoulder. "Keep goin' ... "

I really love your female drell design! Definitely a touch of cobra, but you pulled it off very nicely and made her attractive and feminine. I haven't seen many other images, but you're right in that most other female alien designs are similar to the males, just a bit slimmer/with curves. There's got to be a wider difference in some species, especially with drell (considering that many reptile species show signs of sexual dimorphism).

I find it interesting that you've made her 'frills' larger, but not in a bad way. She's a lot more showy looking than Thane/Kolyat, but then again, those two (as the only drell in the game) didn't quite strike me as very 'dominant' personality-wise if you know what I mean. Perhaps the females are more alpha (like with the salarians?)

I also like how you designed her chest. It annoys me when the majority of female aliens are simply designed all curvy and possessing breasts. She's curvy here, but being bipedal (and live-bearing), it would only make sense. I think drell are supposed to be able to consume whole food straight after birth, so it looks like you've done some research!

Lovely work and a very striking character!

I think you really pulled off the idea you were aiming for: making an attractive female alien without breasts. The one on the far right really shows that. Her pose is very feminine, but you didn't need boobs to prove that she was female XD

I also like the Cobra-inspired head

I'd never even seen the male Drell aliens (though I looked for one right after I saw this XD) but I could make a good assumption of what they'd look like from this. Also, your sketches are alot cleaner/ sharper too :)
