Predator Returns by Khenmes Predator Returns by Khenmes
Ok I've had this thing in my dorm...for....like...ever.

School has been very demanding this year and I doubt it will let up next year, but it doesn't stop me from starting a few side projects (yanno to keep me sane). This is done entirely in ink and was at first a means to help me with composition. I've learned a lot about my style from this picture, one concept being I should really plan out where the characters should be and.....the light source...

God I hate that damn light source; I have no idea where the sun is here. For those of you who may not be able to recognize one of the characters, the predator on the left, is the PREDATOR JEDI. Yep the one from the pencil piece I did long ago but now he's ripped!

Basically the scenario was SUPPOSED to be the predjedi protecting a younger yautja (notice the dude on the ground does not have the clasps in his dreds) from the laws of his clan for basically either refusing to take a trophy or allowing his group to be killed so he could escape. The other predator (on the right) is the ancient who leads this particular clan.

Now what was unfortunately omitted from the original concept was that he was supposed to be surrounded by other clan members who were against the predjedi's peaceful means. I edited this out, to my shame, as I think it would have looked really cool; this was done since I promised to upload art on this site and haven't been delivering lately.

I apologize for the delay in art and please enjoy the piece here (tell me what you think).

Oh yes and, I CANNOT WAIT FOR PREDATORS THE MOVIE!

Wait, there is another Predator movie being made?! *slams head on desk* When did this happen?! Of course, I'm overjoyed at the idea. How could I not be? I must look into this further.

I agree, light sources are major suckage to get right, for me anyway. But there is so much contrasting black and white and detail in this piece that I think you get away with the different angles of shadow just fine. It's only where there are huge blocks of shadow (under the figures arms and legs) that I notice anything amiss, but honestly, I'm too busy looking at their faces and outfits.

One question. If the Jedi Pred is protecting the young one, why is he pinning him down with his foot?

ehhhhh, like I said the picture was originally going to be about the Pred Jedi protecting the younger predator, but I felt that I just needed to get something up on DA and rushed the entire thing (originally there were going to be groups of other aliens surrounding them). I suppose we can say that the injured pred was a Bad Blood (criminal) who was getting such a severe punishment that the jedi didn't think was right; but he is conflicted since this is the way of his people.

.......yes I just made that up now. Ahem, but yeah there is another movie coming out called 'Predators' check it out on the wiki and it's coming in July I think (there is an official movie website). Light sources are such a huge problem for every artist, I think, but looking back on this now....considering all of the new techniques I've learned this year makes me want to make another piece! Glad you like!
