Speed Paint Garrus Vakarian

I didn't look at any pictures of Garrus while doing this, it is just a quick piece I made at around 2AM. Hopefully I'd like to make a more serious piece of him on the computer soon (with actual references).

So don't take the actual drawing to heart.

The reason for drawing Garrus was mostly out of frustration. Mass Effect has got to be my favorite game ever: the choices, the beautiful character designs and personalities, and the fun shootings. People have found it weird that some would like Garrus as a possible romance choice, yet Tali is widely accepted and sought for (along with Liara).

Granted that Liara is an exception due to what her species can do, but to me she is a woman.

I think the concept of allowing the female option is a step foreword, but I am straight so Liara is in no way an option for me (not to mention the fact that there isn't a male/male shipping to balance this is a little offensive).

So having basically only one choice for a partner (Kaiden, who I will not pursue) is a little unfair. Arguments about this include 'well the species are just too different' or 'Turians cannot even digest the same food as humans so it would probably be difficult to do other things.' What makes you think that Tali can digest human food or is somehow less different from a human as opposed to a Turian?

I swear this happens all the time; if a guy likes an alien chick it is accepted, but if a woman likes an alien guy then its already considered weird or grotesque. The reason we usually want an alien who doesn't look that human is because of how lackluster (or disappointing) humans have become in our eyes. To the guys out there who wonder why some girls would like the option of an alien guy is (in my opinion) because we like to believe that aliens value relationships at a greater level. In GOOD fanfiction (and sometimes even bad) when a humanoid creature likes a girl he usually has some sort of code that basically makes him stay with the partner for life.

Even if Garrus's personality were switched with Kaiden's it still would seem less likely of a break up with a turian if only because of what female readers and writers like to believe of aliens. Aliens are often seen as more advanced beings so having them take a relationship more seriously than a human would is a widely accepted theory.

It definitely shows signs of insecurity, but lets face it, game players play games to get away from regular life.

I don't mean to go inside some weirdo feminist route here or even a 'furry-esqu' route. There can be love between two sentient beings without sex; a concept which isn't all that important to most girls. Whatever, I've gone on a rant here; overall hopefully Mass Effect 2 will have the option of being with a turian since to me turians are just beautiful people (like paintings almost).


Either way, I expect a lot of comments saying 'weird' or 'sick' or whatever, so here is the end of my rant and I do not own these characters.
